Bilingualism and language impairment: linguistic and cognitive effects

Abstract/Résumé: Bilingualism and language impairment: linguistic and cognitive effects The role of crosslinguistic influence and of bilingualism in different linguistic phenomena (clitics and gender) in early successive bilingual children will be investigated. The aim is to compare monolingual and bilingual children with SLI and typically developing bilingual children in production and judgment tasks in Greek as a first or second language. The aim is to consider a variety of tasks (narrative discourse and elicited production) in order to evaluate the effects of discourse in the production of referential elements (clitics) as opposed to gender. The potential interaction between working memory and task performance in bilingual and monolingual children with SLI will also be evaluated.
